Water Filters:

Which One is The Best For You?

We rely on clean drinking water every single day. Installing a filtration system gives homeowners the peace of mind knowing that their family is only using the best and cleanest water.

While the municipal government does a good job of clearing legal contamination limits, that doesn’t mean the water is as safe as it could be. Most tap water regulations haven’t been updated in decades. Additionally, regulations allow for a certain amount of contaminants to come through. This is why there’s still a strong need for residential water filters.

Pride Plumbing of Rochester offers a variety of water filtration options. Read more to learn the best option for your home.

Whole-House vs. Under-The-Counter

Water filters can be grouped into two broad categories, whole-house and under-the-counter. The difference is the location of installation and the scope of the filter’s effect.

Whole-House

A whole-house system is installed as close as possible to the point of entry of your water line. This allows all the water throughout your home to go through the same filter. Your entire home benefits. While most water filters focus on drinking water, a whole-house system offers advantages for all the water in your home. Your clothes will come out of the wash fresher and your skin and hair will feel healthier after your showers.

Under-The-Counter

These systems are easily accessible while being hidden from plain sight. You’ll be easily able to exchange cartridges to keep your system well-maintained. Because of this, we can install more effective filtration than the whole-house installation. The main tradeoff you’ll have to decide between is size versus strength. We offer 3 main under-the-counter systems:

  • 2-Stage LCV

  • 3-Stage Ultra

  • 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis

Each has its own benefits and trade-offs. We’ll break it all down for you so you can make an informed decision.

2-Stage LCV

Each stage of water filtration takes up space. With only two stages, the LCV filter is great for sinks and counters with limited space. With that said, it still does a terrific job of fighting off contaminants. Lead contaminants, chlorine, dirt and rust particles are all trivially captured by this system. These contaminants are the main ones we worry about, but for stronger protection from less common pollutants, we offer filtration systems with more stages.

3-Stage Ultra

Our Ultra filtration system has three stages. It can filter extremely fine particles and impurities. Filter changes are quick and only take one-step. This is a middle-ground option. It doesn’t take up as much space as the reverse osmosis filter but rates a bit higher on performance than the smaller 2-stage.

4-Stage Reverse Osmosis

This is the option that filters out the most impurities. Every stage that we add allows for a different kind of filter in this case we use a reverse osmosis semi-permeable membrane filter that can get out the extremely fine particles that other filters can miss.

In addition to the best possible filtration of contaminants, you should expect a substantial decrease in the turbidity of your water after installation. Turbidity is a measure of the clearness of the water. The more suspended solids in water the murkier it will get. If you enjoy a perfectly clear glass of water, our reverse osmosis filter is the best way to ensure one every time you turn on your faucet.

Installing a water filtration system will not only protect your family from potential contaminants, but it will also result in better-tasting, crystal clear water. You’ll be reducing pathogens, chlorine, sediment, pesticides, and lead.
