How Pride Plumbing Gives Back
Introduction
At Pride Plumbing of Rochester, we love pets! We also love giving back to our community. When we learned that Verona Street Animal Society hosts a 5k, 10k, and Dog Walk to raise money for the pets of Monroe County, we jumped at the opportunity. Along with the various races that anyone in the Rochester area can run, The Fast & The Furriest event includes a pet parade and in person festival. What’s better than a pet festival? We’re honestly not sure! Below, we’re going to tell you a little bit about the event, how we are involved, and a special deal we have for you!
The Fast & The Furriest Event
This was the 16th anniversary of The Fast & The Furriest. So, what does it entail? We can tell you firsthand that it is a great event for all ages. Last year and this year, the 5k, 10k, and dog walk were virtual. We appreciate the members of Verona Street Animal Society looking out for the safety of their community. In the past, we have had some of our own Pride Plumbing family run the 5k and 10k in person, and it is a fun, energetic crowd with so many pets! We are really hoping we can get back to running it in person next year!
Are you not planning on running the 5k, 10k, or doing the dog walk, but you still love dogs and social activities? There is something for you! The pet festival is full of fun, and that’s where you’ll find us! There are multiple vendors, a pet parade of dogs available for adoption, Macarollin food truck, and music! Also, you don’t need to have a dog to come! If you do have a dog, Verona Street Animal Society offers a free, drive thru vaccine clinic during the event. Do you want a new best friend? Kermit, Diamond, Shiloh, Otis, and Reese are a few of the adoptable dogs who pranced along in the pet parade! Pride Plumbing’s Part
We were so happy to sponsor this event for the 4th year in a row! We had various prizes available for all. We always bring our fun spinny wheel wherever we go, because with Pride Plumbing, everyone’s a winner! Some of the prizes available were frisbees, candy, hand sanitizer, chapstick, koozies, masks, and bandanas.
We have a special deal if you have any of our bandanas! If you have a pet, take a picture of them rocking the Pride Plumbing of Rochester bandana and tag us using the hashtag, #PridePetsROC. You’ll receive 10% off your next plumbing repair! You don’t need to have a dog, we’ve given bandanas out to horses, bunnies, cats, and more! Look at some of the pets we’ve been able to meet and give bandanas to!
Along with us having fun watching people win prizes, we are proud to contribute to the mission of Animal Services and Verona Street Animal Society. The funds support life-saving activities for pets, and there are around 3,500 animals impounded at Rochester Animal Services and hundreds of owned pets in need throughout Rochester. If it was up to us, we would save all of the dogs, cats, and other animals in need. However, we are grateful we can make a difference through this amazing event!
How Can I Contribute?
Are you not ready to adopt any new pets? You can contribute to this cause by fostering or making a monetary gift of your own. The funds that are raised are attributed towards:
Reuniting lost pets with their owners
Creating incentives for adopting shelter pets and provide fosters with supplies
Minimizing the numbers of stray and unwanted animals entering the shelter
Shelter enrichment items
Supporting healthy choices for pet owners in underserved neighborhoods
Ensuring appropriate medical care and diagnostic testing is available for pets served by Rochester Animal Services (RAS) (I.e. heartworm, feline leukemia virus, feline immunodeficiency virus, canine parvovirus)
Subsidization of spay and neuter surgeries
